I decided to explore the other end of the Bournemouth promenade to Sandbanks as far as Shore Road. Sandbanks is a little peninsula that forms the north entrance to Poole Harbour. It is also some of the most expensive real estate in the world.
The promenade
The promenade stretches down as far as the head of the peninsula. The surface is mixed, I was glad to be on cross skates as in some places it would have been pretty rough on normal rollerskis. In particular the stretch separating the beaches of Poole and Bournemouth.
The Purbecks and Sandbanks beach
It was pretty warm early in the morning and there were already quite a few runners and swimmers on the beaches. Plus a few overnight tents. The views are great but it is pretty flat apart from the climb back up the East cliff to where I was staying. There are various creeks up from the beach called "chines". Branksome chine is in some flat woods, which may have been interesting to explore as would be Bournemouth gardens. The other chines are pretty steep though.
